Hospital Living

Just over two weeks ago, I went into pre-term labor (at 27.5 weeks). I was ambulanced (is that a word?) to Columbia Regional Hospital (about and hour and a half away but equipped with a perinatologist and NICU) where they drugged me to stop my contractions and hopefully stop my dilation. Eventually it worked. The first night my dear friend, Tamra, drove all the down to stay with me in the hospital. The next day, since I was stable, I was moved to the antepartum unit; I'll be here until I am at least 34 weeks. Timing was awful with Rob going right into finals, but people have been so kind: watching Robbie, bringing meals, movies, books...sending cards, making calls and visits--thank you so much for all of your love and support. I am amazed, really, that it has not been harder for me--there are even some things that I enjoy! Anyway, I just wanted to thank all of you for your prayers and support. Next time I see you all, I'll have another little boy!!!

Kauai

A lot of you have been asking me about Kauai pictures (for those of you who don't know, I went to Kauai with my family a few weeks ago--it was gorgeous and completely relaxing!!!) but traveling alone with a toddler & pregnant meant I didn't want to carry an additional camera bag--no worries, I left it up to my dad (who thinks he's a professional photographer) to take plenty of pictures. My mom made me a CD and I should get it soon. Until then, I'll upload just a few that she emailed me. Aloha!!!

Twilight

So I am so mad at everyone who told me to read Twilight (and New Moon & Eclipse) because now I am finished and starving for more! I hate reading books and getting all into them, only to have them end and all of your dear friends mute forever. Fortunately for me (and all of you) there is hope ahead: August 2 when the last book comes out!

Daddy Domestic

Last Saturday I was gone for about five hours, leaving Robbie with his daddy. I secretly hoped that it would be "one of those days" and that Rob would realize how difficult my every day life is as a stay-at-home mom. I imagined walking in the door to see a naked child, food smeared all over the house and a frazzled Rob desperately handing "the child" over to me. Instead I came home to the opposite. Rob had fed Robbie breakfast, given him a bath, read him five books, taught him two words, played with his blocks and balls, and fed him lunch; Rob cleaned the entire kitchen, vacuumed the entire house (up & downstairs), and did two loads of laundry (folded AND put away). I suppose the "down time" was just too much for him, so he and Robbie ventured into the backyard and built this bird feeder with scrap wood they found. NO JOKE!!! Both boys were beaming when I got home. I would normally feel sorry for myself, thinking I just must not be cracked up to be a perfect mom, but instead I have decided to learn from this experience--I'm going to get out more often so the boys can enjoy their time together! :)

Baby Boy!

Robbie is getting a brother soon (well, Aug. 3) and we are so excited! I initially thought I was having a girl, but then I started to feel the baby move and knew--those were manly kicks! I guess the other most exciting news is that my plecenta (right above the baby's face) is now on the anterior wall of my uterus, no longer over my cervix (I have been dealing with placenta previa for the past few months and I am so happy to know that it is over--or at least it is according to the technician). Thanks for all your prayers and support--we are excited to see what August brings!
