We had a great surprise this Halloween: Visitors! Aunt Kristen and Uncle Ryan stopped for a few days on their way home from their medical rotations in Michigan. What a treat! We take pumpkin carving very seriously. Jimmy's first taste of candy--he was a big fan! We helped host a Halloween party with some friends, and while the moms were helping with bingo . . . The boys, I mean dads, were playing old school video games like it was 1986! Just as intense, just as exciting! So cute.
A little flag football . . . Some frolicking in the leaves . . . (Ty had so much fun knocking down the leaves to our tree that he broke a huge branch! Not happy.) We've been going on tons of family bike rides. Jimmy ALWAYS falls asleep, and Ty only does half the time. Robbie's been wanting rollerblades for about a year now, so when we saw these for $2 a garage sale, we had to buy them.
Robbie scored 4 goals at his game yesterday (though one didn't count because it was "in the white box" but whatever)! He has gone from never playing to being just great--it's amazing how fast these little guys learn! He also had some fabulous blocks and an assist. So proud!
We woke up at 4 a.m. to begin our little day trip (someday when I'm not poor, I just might get some sleep!:)) We headed to the St. Louis temple (where we just happened to run into Maren and Sheldon Johnson, our friends from medical school) and then it was off to the zoo for a fun day (and then another 4 hours home!). We love this zoo, though, and it was fun to see how the kids' reactions have changes since we took them to the same place 2 years ago.
For the sake of journaling--Jimmy is crawling! When he started rocking at six months I knew I was in trouble. I'm already on edge. He's crawled himself into several corners he can't escape. He follows me everywhere. The world is his jungle gym! This morning I came downstairs to find Ty baiting him with a superhero a few steps up, trying to get Jimmy to climb the stairs. Needless to say, we had a little talk.
