Party Time!

I was so proud of him. We practiced before the party being gracious and excited even if he didn't like the gift. He got one thing that he already had and was so animated and surprised-looking! I was so proud of my little faker! :)
And who doesn't love the ultimate jumbo cheese pizza!

In His Element

He beams this time of year. Always has. It's in the air--something crisp and spicy. It's football and pumpkin cookies--Rob just can't get enough.
This is him going to his friend Dave's house--ready for the season opener. (How cute are my brownies!) He watches every game there in Dave's theater room with all his buddies. (Yes, even if he comes home at 1a.m. and has to wake up at 4:30 to go into work. He's a die-hard! Who needs sleep when BYU is playing!?)
He loves working in the yard. We went in with a neighbor to rent this aerator--hopefully the lawn will be gorgeous next year! He waters all his trees and shrubs and lawn each night. He's my little farmer boy.
And finally--he started throwing again. It seems like ages since he was last at it, but after buying the net (pictured below) at a garage sale for only $10--Rob spent the rest of his Saturday playing with it. He dropped back and ran routes--he's still remarkably accurate. I just sat up on the deck and watched him. :)

He was like a kid again. He always wanted one of these nets and never got one--so this was his chance to play!

A Different Type of Thinker . . .

My Ty. He's like a little whirlwind of creativity and energy and imagination. He's a spitfire. And he thinks NOTHING like the rest of us.

"Mommy, is an elephant bigger than a football field?"

"No."

His eyes light up. "So a blue whale is stronger than an elephant!"

What? Yep, that's right--deductive logic. He knew a blue whale is about the same size as a football field (and actually that isn't really accurate, but I told him that before he made me do all kids of research--regardless . . .), and instead of just making a direct comparison (he knows a blue whale and elephant can't fight) he deduced which was most likely stronger. He did the same thing with Rob; it's how he figured out that arrows go faster than 60 miles per hour (he used Cheetahs for a reference). Hilarious to listen to, let me tell you!

It's just how he thinks. Everything is about relationships to him--speed versus size versus strength. He rarely asks a question directly . . .  it makes my head spin! We spend most of our afternoon google-ing random facts that he must know. Like how small is the smallest horse (17 inches) or fish (the size of a quarter).  He can spout off facts about the blue whale (his current favorite since it is the largest animal--even bigger than the largest dinosaur) like that its heart is as big as a car; its tongue weights more than an elephant; the largest recorded was 110ft. long. This week we moved on to the earth's core. He is fascinated by lava and volcanoes  . . . earth and space. And so, it was only natural to begin our first geology lesson. I can't seem to answer all his hypatheticals: Who would win in a fight, a polar bear or crocodile?

He thinks like a physicist, though he currently wants to be a pilot. Whatever he chooses, I am sure he will be well-suited for it. :)

6 Baby!

I told Robbie to go put on the cutest, coolest outfit he could think of. He chose this. :)

Book: Captain America

What do you want to be when you grow up? A professional soccer player
What's your favorite thing to do with Daddy: Play soccer with him
With Mommy: I just love her loving me

With Jimmy: Catching him on a slide.

Robbie is social and happy and genuine. He is trustworthy and obedient. He is doing great in school and is starting to realize how smart he is. Just yesterday his "story" that he'd been writing was used as the perfect example in front of the whole class. Robbie beamed with pride when he told me. The day before he was the teacher's assistant and did all the letters and sounds perfectly in front of the class. While most of the students struggle writing their numbers 1-10, Robbie races to 30 with ease (that's as far as the teacher will let him go on paper, though she tested him orally to 100). We're so proud of him. Way to go, Robbie. We love you!
