Casts

What was supposed to be a fun Family Home Evening activity, turned into a nightmare. What could be more fun than getting a cast on, right? It always looked cool in elementary school when kids lined up to sign it. Oh, how I would have loved the attention! Well, now I guess this was my moment. All was well except that we ALL wanted casts (and the boys multiple) and Rob didn't have enough padding. No worries--we'll just use the stalking net, right? We're not whiners--no need for padding. We were wrong--painfully wrong!

It wasn't until Rob started sawing off the casts that we noticed it. PAIN! It burned--bad. Robbie and I actually got cut. It was traumatic, to say the least. Almost two hours of sawing, cracking, burning . . .the boys begged to never get a cast again.

Jimmy thought it was cool, though. He has his own dramas everyday--like the gash below his eye when he tripped and hit it on a corner. The child is into EVERYTHING and in a constant state of curiosity, trouble, and mess-making. It's like a mini Ty all over again!

The Big Day!

It started off just right: breakfast in bed. He had a smoothie and toast with butter (it's like the only thing he eats for breakfast).
Then we headed to Worlds of Fun! Ty got a little intense in the ball arena. :)
Waiting in line. . .

Then he got a slurpie--his favorite!
It was blue.

And a double light saber he had been wanting for months
And Hulk fists and a Captain America mask. Perfect for playtime.
Jimmy played too. He has now inherited his own light saber and is very excited about it.
It was a long day!

The Party

It was a million degrees on Saturday, but the party must go on, right? So, we stalked up on drinks . . .
Got Ty his requested Spiderman store-made cake. (I was a little hurt by this, but after he tasted it, he decided I HAD to make his cakes from now on. That's more like it! :))
I only had one candle, but he didn't seem to care.

We did the slip 'n' slide and had a pinata, pizza, and cake and ice cream. It was relaxing and fun.

4

My Ty is four! I had to chase him around to get some pictures, but you get the gist. He's hilarious, creative, imaginative, loving, and FULL of energy!

And now for the interview:
Ty's favorite . . .
color: green
sport: baseball
food: "fried chicken pasta" (he means Cajun Chicken Pasta)
toy: Batman
friend: Dillon
movie: Curious George
song: I am a Child of God
treat: gum
Thing to do outside: catch bugs with a bug net (which we don't have--again, he's imaginative :))
Place in the world: Worlds of Fun and Oceans of Fun
Animal: Elephant
Drink: Slurpies
Thing to do with Robbie: play baseball
Thing to do with Jimmy: crawl up the stairs with him.
Thing to do with Mommy: to go to get slurpies
Thing to do with Daddy: to go to Oceans of Fun with him
What do you want to be when you grow up? A race car driver.

 A taste of Ty's personality . . .
Ty is very touchy and lovey. He caresses my face and holds me close--he kisses me about 30 times each day (mind you, this is only with me. If anyone else touches him, he hates it!)

He has developed quite a potty mouth--always making burping and tooting sounds. I swear if I hear the word "poop" again, I'm gonna lose it. While in the interview, he kept saying, "I toot in my jeans, okay?" and laughing hysterically. Rob works with him on his letters each night. Poor kid can't even say the letter P without busting up! And every time he gets to G, he says, "G for gas!" We're working on it. He's slowly "cleaning" it up.

Whenever he gets in trouble, before I even begin to discipline, Ty yells out over my voice, "You're the beautifulist mom in the whole world!" Smart kid. How do you send a kid to his room after that? :)

He's getting to that stage where he asks questions. He recently pointed to my chest and said, "Mom, why are girls' these (pointing) so much bigger than boys'?"
I made it simple. "Because they have milk in them to feed babies." It made sense to him--he knows I nurse Jimmy.
"Well yours must only have one drop of milk in them." Nice.
And then he thought harder.  "Well how come Grandma's are so big, then?"  I give up.

He is completely unique. He is stubborn and it's nearly impossible to change his mind. He is content to play in his own imaginary world, but also loves attention. He makes us laugh every day. He's charming, mischievous, gentle, male . . . love that little guy!

4th of July

Rob had the great idea to have a pancake breakfast at our house. Well, I can't seem to reign in my inner party-animal, so fifty people came! What a party! We had two tarps and tent up, three tables of food, and a play land of fun. We had the slip 'n' slide going, a football and soccer game, and balls and tunnels everywhere.

Then I made a delicious and beautiful trifle!

Then the boys watched a little Transformers--Rob still cries every time!
Then we went to some friends' house for a BBQ and some fireworks!

And back home for some more. We were up until 10 on our deck watching the amazing stadium fireworks that people were lighting in our yards. Chinese lanterns were floating in our yard--it was just like Tangled!

Master Immitator

Jimmy copies everything we do; we have to be quite careful these days. Oh yes, he's even started the yelling and hitting--so happy about that one. But the darling part is how he always wants to play with the big boys. He thinks he can take them on when they are playing sports in the house (yes, they do play in the house) or when they have their action figures out. He wants to dress up like them, too. I love this picture. Robbie is clearly Spiderman--matching, in character. Ty . . . he's a football player superhero with just a taste of pirate. So Ty!

Jimmy couldn't be left out of their adventures, so he had to play along, too.

He is 16 months now and says: Mama
Dada
Ty (Ta)
out
up
dog
that (dat)
this (dis)
teeth (teece)
nigh-night
bath (bass)
eew!
dirty
mmmm
juice
cheese
hot
bug
hat
ball
ouch
water (ba ba--no clue, but it's consistent)
fish
uh-oh
Grandpa (pampa--he says this whenever he thinks I'm on the phone with my dad)
ice
duck
diaper
outside (side)
And the boys new favorite: Poo poo. They taught it to him. Nice. There are, of course, other words or sayings that he "says" but it isn't always consistent.
He signs:
Ball
fish
bye bye
dog
more
eat/food
shoes
water
dirty
He also points, nods, shakes his head, laughs and cries--a great communicator!

Another Trophy

T-Ball ended this week. Great season! Robbie hit a couple home runs and got some great outs. He loves it but is already ready for his next season; what am I gonna do with THREE boys!

Ty's days of playing in the dirt are coming to an end. He'll finally be on his own team this soccer season. Though it's a million degrees at these games, he insists on watching with a shirt with a number (hence the long-sleeved shirt). He wants to be number 0 or 1 in the fall--he thinks that would just be hilarious!
