Builders

A few weekends ago was our little builders weekend. As always, we went to Home Depot on Saturday morning for the Kids' Workshop, but this was the first time we let Jimmy participate; he was thrilled!

And then we went home so that Daddy could build. Yes, all over my family room. So happy! It was chaotic to say the least.

The goal was to make this:

Into this:

Finally a little organization! Rob build perfect shelves. So grateful for my handyman.

My Muffler Man

I still am amazed that Rob hasn't been kicked out of the physican parking lot. Even if he is a doctor, I mean, have some respect for the profession, right? One of the other residents thanked him the other day for having the worst car in the program; it used to be this guy--he's no longer the butt of the jokes. :)

Anyway, the other day Rob called and said he'd be little later--he had to swing by Home Depot.

"Why?" I ask.

"Oh, my muffler's falling off again. I'm gonna wire it on."

He just got a new muffler welded a little less than a year ago, but his car shakes so badly it has been knocked loose! The joys of residency! :)

Jimmy

He's a social butterfly as far as ladies go. He runs up to them and tries to play sweet and friendly--he smiles and tries to hold their hands and get them to play with him. That is until she doesn't give him the attention he wants and then he just grabs her, squeezes her, tackles her . . . yes, he's even bitten. Let's hope he grows out of it!

He's obsessed with water. Everyday he begs to take a "baf."
He loves the camera! He does a cheesy smile every time he sees it (this time he was caught off guard, but he's not shy from it, that's for sure)!
He's obsessed with ties. Wears one almost every day (or multiple as you see). Over jackets, on t-shirts, without pants--it doesn't matter--he just feels handsome wearing one.

He loves vacuums, too. Why he thinks he needs protective eye gear for the job, I'm not really sure, but he INSISTED that he wear it. He's hilarious!
And now for the mischief! Can't keep him out of the brown sugar . . .

Or away from the sink (at least he's washing his apple before eating it!). How does he get up there, you ask?
He pushes the chairs.
Yes, even to the oven. I found he had turned it on yesterday. Not okay! He gets in my toothpaste everyday. Turns on and off the dishwasher who knows how many times per cycle or when it is completely empty. He dumps out the dish soap, takes every can out of my pantry, takes every condiment from the fridge, pours juice, water, vinegar---every liquid you can imagine on my floor, turns on the hose and drowns the grass, climbs on EVERYTHING . . . he's exhausting!!! But I am just so happy that he is alive and healthy, I count each one of these things as a blessing.

Oh, and as pathetic as it sounds . . . I am FINALLY done nursing! I know, I know, a year and a half later--the child is weened (though he cried and punched me in the face when I told him it was over. He's really not gonna handle break ups well! :))

Moment

Robbie scored 5 goals in the game. 16 goals in three games. He's on fire.

But the real intent of this post is tell the cutest moment ever! Well, a couple. Robbie prayed for the "black team" before the game, asking Heavenly Father to help them play well and not get hurt. I thought that was sweet.  But . . .

Ty plays soccer by basically running in circles; he's getting better, but sometimes he just gets bored or doesn't want to really get in there only to get trampled. (I make hims sound ridiculous, but he actually is super fast and an excellent ball handler--he's just young and small compared to the 6-year-olds!) So last game, he took it upon himself to be the goalie. Mind you, there really aren't goalies at this point, but Ty was ready to save the day. The ball was on the other side of the field, and though we all screamed for him to get to the ball, he stayed put in the goal. And finally, his time came. The other team got past everyone in our swarm and headed right to him. His feet were firmly planted, legs far apart, eyes intense and then the kick . . . right through his legs! It was so darling everyone started to chuckle! I love sports!

Blue Lightning

Our official name is Blue Lightning (the kids came up with it) but we parents call ourselves the Stormin' Mormons. It has been a blast having both of the boys on the same team that is made up of their best friends. Rob is the head coach, but since three of the four coaches are residents, and the fourth travels as a professional sports drug tester--they need all the help they can get (as far as attendance goes!) So far, they've done great, though.
Can you tell there's a bunch of doctor's as coaches? Yes, those are surgical booties on the kids' feet (trying to teach them to use their left foot). One of the attendings Rob works with has coached and played soccer for 30 years--he says the booties work miracles!:)

Robbie steals the show--yes, this is brag time, but it is also truth time. The child is insane to watch. He scored 6 goals the first game and 4 the next (who knows how many he'll score tomorrow!) He jukes like crazy, is fast and an amazing ball handler, but he's a great defender and smart player too. Parents from the other team have come up to him after each game to tell him how great he played. I have to admit, I love it! My little superstar!
As always, Ty is my little firecracker! He's kind of all over the place and no where at the same time, but as the youngest on the team--he's doing phenomenal! He scored one goal his first game--he was so excited! Toward the end of the last game, it was like the lights went on. He started really getting in there and making some great plays! He also got tackled, trampled, and kicked in the face while he was down, but . . . he's getting back in the game, so we're so happy for him. He giggles and smiles the whole time he's out there--he's really loving it.
